Meteorite

‘Meteorite’ designed by Ateljé Sotamaa is a residential building made of cross-laminated timber (CLT). The inside of this modern wood building is five open interconnected rooms that integrate with the surrounding landscape.

Details:

  • Experimental shape for a residential wood construction

  • Digital manufacturing technology: the house is made of 272 pieces of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT)

  • New “misfit” design strategy, creates an insulating air space between inner and outer layer. No other insulation used, even if the house is located in one of the coldest areas in Finland.

  • 58m2 and 700 cubic meters, the interior spaces connect to a 15 meters deep void

  • Electric glass windows that heat the space

  • Wooden bathroom

  • A 50m2 "in-between space" — a modern attic
