Usva is a mass timber house designed by Ateljé Sotamaa, built by Vivaret together with Joen Kodinrakentajat Oy. 

Inspired by the ancient Japanese art of Shou Sugi Ban, the charred wood cladding adds a touch of rustic elegance to the exterior.

  • Digital manufacturing technology: the house combines digitally manufactured mass timber frame with Cross Laminated Timber (CLT)

  • The timber frame applies the traditional building technique based on various shapes of joints without nails and screws

  • 370m2, the interior spaces features two floors and a 70m2 large hall
